Can I downgrade Semrush?

Yes—Semrush currently publishes a downgrade path through Support. Before relying on the savings, confirm the resulting plan, price and effective date for your account. Current public guidance does not establish one universal downgrade credit, refund, proration formula or effective date.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

Downgrade when you still need Semrush; cancel when you do not—and do not assume a credit or timing rule that Semrush has not published.

Use Support to confirm the lower plan, price and effective date before committing. If you are moving to free access, account for the reduced limits and published retention consequences. If you no longer need paid access at all, cancellation is the cleaner decision. Semrush currently does not publish a pause option.

Best for you if… your current plan is more than you need but some Semrush access still has value, and you are willing to confirm the account-specific billing and effective-date result rather than inferring it from upgrade rules.

How do I downgrade?

Current Semrush Billing FAQ and cancellation guidance direct users to Support to move to another pricing plan. Current pricing FAQs say users can downgrade unless custom terms or a signed agreement control the account.

Does Semrush limit how many times I can downgrade?

Current Billing FAQ says there are no published restrictions on the number of downgrades. That does not override signed/custom account terms or guarantee that every historical/current plan remains available.

What happens to my features and data?

A lower plan can reduce capabilities and Website Monitoring limits. Current support says Website Monitoring data is kept for 30 days after downgrading in case you re-upgrade. If you downgrade to the free plan, current guidance describes one month of retention before data above free-plan limits can be deleted under the stated rule, with Website Monitoring data in the oldest folder retained.

Will I get a prorated credit or refund?

Do not assume it. Semrush's Billing FAQ documents proration for upgrades. The current public evidence checked here does not establish that the same calculation applies in reverse to downgrades, and it does not establish one universal credit, cash refund or exact next bill. Confirm the account-specific result with Support.

When does the downgrade take effect?

The current public pages checked here do not establish one universal effective date for every downgrade, plan or signed agreement. Confirm the effective date before changing a plan near a billing date.

Downgrade is not pause, cancellation or refund

Current Billing FAQ says subscriptions cannot be paused. Downgrade is also different from cancelling future renewal, deleting the account, or submitting a refund request. For cancellation, see How do I cancel Semrush?. For refund eligibility, see Can I get a Semrush refund?.
