How do I cancel Semrush?
Cancel through the path that owns the subscription, then verify the result. For a standard website subscription, current Semrush guidance says to use the authenticated cancellation flow and confirm Subscription Info shows Recurring: Inactive. If it still shows Recurring: Active, renewal is still enabled.

AlreadyChecked Verdict
Do not treat form submission as proof—verify that renewal is actually inactive.
For a standard website subscription, complete the authenticated cancellation path and confirm Recurring: Inactive. Use downgrade instead when you still need Semrush at lower limits. For apps, add-ons or signed Orders, use the path that actually controls that product or agreement rather than assuming the base-subscription flow applies.
| Choice | Best for | Current path / timing | Biggest advantage | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stop renewal Cancel standard website subscription | Users who no longer want the base paid subscription to renew. | Use the authenticated account cancellation flow and verify Recurring: Inactive. | Directly targets future renewal and gives an account-state control to confirm completion. | Paid access can continue through the prepaid/committed term; cancellation is not a refund request. |
| Keep lower access Downgrade instead | Users who still need Semrush but no longer need current paid limits. | Current guidance routes downgrade through Support; confirm the resulting plan, price and effective date. | Can preserve useful access while reducing the paid configuration. | No universal downgrade effective date, credit, refund or reverse-proration formula is established by the checked public guidance. |
| Different control path Apps, add-ons or signed Orders | Users whose charge or entitlement is not controlled by the standard website subscription. | Use the product-specific My Apps, support or governing Order path. | Matches the cancellation action to the billing/control surface that actually owns it. | Do not assume cancelling the base website subscription automatically cancels every separate app, add-on or negotiated agreement. |

1. Standard website subscription
Current Semrush online policy says a website subscriber can cancel from the authenticated User Account by properly submitting the cancellation request. For paid service, cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the committed or prepaid subscription term, so remaining paid access is not necessarily removed immediately.
2. Verify the cancellation actually completed
Current Semrush support uses Subscription Info as the control. Recurring: Inactive means automatic renewal is disabled. Recurring: Active means the subscription is still set to renew. If you recently submitted the request and it remains active, current guidance says to make sure the cancellation-confirmation email link was clicked within 24 hours.
3. What happens after cancellation?
Current Semrush guidance says the account can fall back to free-level access with reduced capabilities. For Website Monitoring data created under paid limits, Semrush currently describes a 30-day grace period; after that, data above free-plan limits can be reduced or deleted under the published free-plan rule.
4. Can I pause or downgrade instead?
Current Semrush Billing FAQ says subscriptions cannot be paused. Downgrade is a separate support-managed option if reduced paid access is preferable to ending renewal.
5. Add-ons, apps and signed Orders can use different paths
Additional limits/add-ons, App Center apps and signed or negotiated Orders should not be assumed to use the same cancellation flow as the base website subscription. Use the product-specific My Apps, support or governing Order path.
Keep cancellation separate from refunds and account deletion
Cancellation does not automatically submit a refund request or create refund eligibility. Account deletion is also separate and can affect stored data. For refund eligibility, see Can I get a Semrush refund?.
If you cannot log in
Use Semrush Support with the email associated with the account and only limited billing identifiers. Never send passwords, one-time codes, recovery codes, full card numbers, CVV or bank credentials.
Commercial boundary: this page contains no sponsored Semrush destination because AlreadyChecked does not have project-controlled proof of Semrush affiliate approval or an authorized production tracking destination.
