Semrush trial decision

Does Semrush have a free trial?

Yes. Semrush currently advertises a 7-day free trial for listed toolkits. The important part is what happens next: if you do not cancel before the trial ends, Semrush says the trial can automatically convert to a paid subscription under the billing terms you accepted.

Trust boundary: This is a manually researched editorial decision page, not an A✓/CHECKED verification record or approval badge. AlreadyChecked has no project-controlled Semrush affiliate destination on this page.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

Use the 7-day trial only when you need to test paid limits—and track cancellation before the deadline.

If Semrush's limited free account already handles the work, stay free. Use the trial when a real recurring task exceeds those limits and you need to prove paid-workflow value. Continue paid service only after that test; do not rely on a later refund as your cancellation plan.

Best for you if… you know which toolkit and workflow you need to test, record the displayed trial end date, and can make a deliberate free-versus-paid decision before automatic conversion.

AlreadyChecked verdict

Use the trial only if you will track the displayed end date and manage cancellation before the deadline. If you only need ongoing no-cost access and reduced limits are enough, use Semrush's limited free account instead. Do not treat the trial as a guarantee that a later charge will be refundable.

What is the current offer?

Semrush's current trial page advertises 7 days of free access and currently lists trial paths for Semrush One, SEO Toolkit, Local Toolkit and Social Toolkit.

That is a current dated offer, not a promise that every Semrush product, every account or every future offer will always have the same trial. Your actual account offer and accepted billing terms control.

What happens if you do not cancel?

Current Semrush cancellation guidance says an uncancelled trial automatically converts to a paid subscription under the subscription and billing terms accepted when the trial began.

Before starting, record the trial end date shown in your account so the deadline is not dependent on memory or an email reminder.

How should you cancel?

Semrush says a trial can be cancelled through the same cancellation process used for a paid subscription. Its current cancellation guidance describes a request flow with email confirmation and final confirmation/status.

Current policy says cancellation of an unpaid trial or free subscription takes effect within 3 business days after a properly submitted request and that Semrush confirms cancellation within 3 business days. That means you should not assume a request made at the last moment will be processed instantly before billing.

Safer rule: submit cancellation before the trial deadline and keep the cancellation email, confirmation link/status and final confirmation as evidence.

The trial is not the money-back guarantee

Semrush's current 7-day free trial and its standard 7-day money-back guarantee are separate mechanisms.

Current Semrush cancellation guidance says trial-conversion payments for standalone products are not automatically eligible for the standard guarantee. Current standard online policy also excludes month-to-month subscriptions and renewal charges from that guarantee.

So the sequence is:

  1. Trial question: Did you cancel before the trial ended?
  2. Billing question: Did the trial convert to paid service under the accepted terms?
  3. Refund question: Does the resulting purchase independently meet the current refund-policy conditions?

What about Semrush's free account?

Semrush currently says users can continue with a limited free account, but access to tools, reports and usage limits is materially reduced.

The free account is different from the 7-day paid-product trial. If reduced limits are enough, the free account avoids the trial-conversion deadline entirely.
