Local SEO software comparison

Semrush Local vs Nightwatch: which fits your local SEO workload?

Neither is a universal winner. Semrush Local fits buyers who want Google Business Profile automation, listings/review workflows and map-rank visibility purchased directly per business location. Nightwatch fits buyers centered on daily organic/local/Google Maps rank tracking plus broader rank and AI-visibility tooling. Compare exact operating job, tracked-keyword volume and billing basis rather than headline prices.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

Choose Semrush Local for per-location GBP/listing/review operations; choose Nightwatch when daily organic, local and Google Maps rank tracking is the operating center.

Semrush Local is a local-business-location toolkit. Nightwatch scales around tracked-keyword capacity and broader rank/AI visibility. The correct choice depends more on the job and monitoring volume than on the smallest displayed monthly-looking number.

Best for you if… you compare local operational scope, tracked-keyword volume and the exact monthly-versus-yearly billing state instead of treating a Nightwatch keyword as equivalent to a Semrush Map Rank Tracker credit.

The September 9 factory checkpoint preserved the yearly-billing state and correctly rejected relabeling €79, €159 or €399 as month-to-month prices. A September 12 recheck of Nightwatch's current main site now independently exposes €99 / €199 / €499 month-to-month, so those values are reported separately rather than back-solved from savings arithmetic.

A separate Nightwatch pricing table conflicts with the current main site

A separate Nightwatch pricing subdomain currently surfaces older dollar-denominated plan values that differ materially from the current main-site euro table. AlreadyChecked treats those values as potentially stale or legacy and does not mix them into the current plan comparison without direct current confirmation.

Nightwatch scales by tracked-keyword capacity

The current plan family lists 500 daily tracked keywords on Starter, 2,500 on Professional and 7,500 on Agency. Nightwatch also bundles broader rank tracking, AI visibility, research, site-audit and related tooling. Its headline subscription price is therefore not a local-business-location-only price.

Both can track local visibility, but the operating scope differs

Nightwatch currently supports daily rank tracking across Google and Google Maps, with granular location targeting and Local Pack/Google Places tracking workflows. Semrush Local is sold directly per business location and includes GBP automation, map-rank credits and—on Pro—listing and review workflows. A Nightwatch tracked keyword is not equivalent to a Semrush Map Rank Tracker credit or a Semrush business-location limit.

Nightwatch also markets accuracy and local-tracking superiority claims on its own site. AlreadyChecked treats those as vendor claims, not independently verified proof that Nightwatch is more accurate.

The Nightwatch trial needs billing context

Nightwatch currently advertises a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Current Nightwatch account help says users are not billed during the trial unless they subscribe to a plan. The current pricing FAQ also describes automatic monthly billing when an engaged trial is not canceled within 14 days.

Because no card is required to start, AlreadyChecked does not claim that every Nightwatch free trial auto-converts, and it also does not claim that paid conversion can never occur after a user subscribes or adds a payment path. Semrush Local's current 7-day trial uses a different billing flow.

Cancellation, account deletion and refunds are separate questions

Nightwatch says subscriptions can be canceled through account/Billing flows, depending on the payment system. Permanent account deletion is a separate Customer Success action. Current Nightwatch terms say Nightwatch is not obligated to provide a refund at any time, while plan changes can involve prorated adjustments. A prorated plan change is not a general cancellation-refund promise.

Nightwatch has two different partner-style offers

Nightwatch's current SEO affiliate program advertises 30% lifetime recurring commission, a 365-day tracking cookie, monthly PayPal or Stripe payouts and a $100 payout threshold. Nightwatch's main site separately describes a 20% recurring agency Partner Program. Those are distinct offers and should not be merged into one commission claim.

Public program availability also does not prove AlreadyChecked is enrolled, owns an issued referral link, controls attribution or has payout custody. This comparison therefore has no project-controlled Nightwatch affiliate destination.

Which route fits your actual workflow?

Choose Semrush Local when…

Google Business Profile automation, local listings/reviews and per-location local operations are the center of the job.

Choose Nightwatch when…

Daily organic/local/Google Maps rank tracking plus broader rank and AI-visibility workflows are the center of the job.

Verify billing state when…

You compare Nightwatch prices. Current month-to-month and annual-equivalent values are now both visible, while a separate legacy-looking pricing subdomain remains inconsistent.

Important limitations

Semrush credits, Nightwatch tracked keywords, websites, search locations, AI allowances and site-audit limits are not interchangeable units. Raw limits and vendor accuracy claims do not prove ranking outcomes, leads or revenue.
