SolidGigs vs ZipRecruiter: paid freelance leads or free broad job search?

Start with ZipRecruiter when your main goal is broad employment, contract or remote job discovery and you want a free search baseline with AI matching, employer invitations and faster applications. Start with SolidGigs when your main goal is independent freelance client/project acquisition and paying for cross-source lead curation saves enough prospecting time to justify the subscription. Neither is a universal winner.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

What you are actually comparing

SolidGigs

Current price: 14-day free trial, then $35/month or $350/year on the checked first-party pricing surface.

Model: paid freelance client/project lead generation and curation across multiple sources; matched leads route back to the original source to pitch.

ZipRecruiter

Current baseline: ZipRecruiter's first-party surface says you do not need an account to search for jobs.

Model: broad employment marketplace with AI matching, employer invitations, resume/profile discovery and faster application tools across employment, contract and remote roles.

Pick SolidGigs when freelance client lead hunting is the bottleneck

SolidGigs currently advertises a 14-day free trial, $35 monthly access and $350 annual billing displayed as roughly a $29/month equivalent. It describes a paid lead-generation workflow that searches multiple sources, sends matched gigs to the user's dashboard/email and routes the freelancer to the original source to pitch. SolidGigs says it does not take a percentage of client pay.

Its current Terms require cancellation before the 14-day trial ends to avoid the selected-plan charge and do not guarantee refunds or prorated adjustments for late cancellation or at another point. Cancel-anytime marketing and refund rights are separate.

Start with ZipRecruiter when broad free search and matching are the priority

ZipRecruiter's current first-party surfaces say a user does not need an account to search for jobs. Its job-seeker experience is built around broad title/keyword and location search, resume/profile use, matching and faster applications. Employer-side paid hiring products are a separate commercial workflow and should not be confused with job-seeker cost.

Phil and 1-Click Apply reduce friction—not outcome uncertainty

ZipRecruiter describes Phil as an AI-powered career advisor that uses experience, interests, career goals and profile information to identify matches. Phil can pitch a job seeker's profile to employers, companies can invite candidates to apply, and 1-Click Apply can shorten many applications after key profile information is supplied.

Those features can reduce search and application friction. ZipRecruiter's controlling Terms do not guarantee that an employer will receive, access, view or respond to an application, and employer clients remain responsible for applicant screening, review and hiring decisions.

ZipRecruiter's safety resources are useful—but not a universal screening guarantee

ZipRecruiter's current Trust & Safety page provides guidance on text and phone scams, phishing, shipping or money-laundering schemes, chat-interview scams, work-from-home scams and identity theft. Its controlling Terms also say ZipRecruiter makes no guarantees regarding third-party messages, Job Advertisements or resumes and has no obligation to screen or verify the accuracy, legality, legitimacy, reliability, truthfulness or completeness of user content.

AlreadyChecked therefore treats ZipRecruiter's safety resources as documented provider controls—not proof that every listing, employer, recruiter or contact is independently verified, current or scam-free.

Remote flexibility does not mean work from anywhere

ZipRecruiter supports location and remote-flexibility preferences in its search experience, including through its 2026 ChatGPT app. Those search dimensions do not establish universal country, state, city, timezone, sponsorship, work-authorization, tax, licensing, schedule or employer-location eligibility. Verify the actual requirements on each role before applying.

Applications and profile data can leave ZipRecruiter's direct control

ZipRecruiter's current privacy policy says job applications can share identity and contact data with the prospective employer, its agent or an external applicant-tracking system. Where Resume Database is available, opted-in candidate information may be shared with participating employers and recruiters.

Users can opt out of future Resume Database availability, but ZipRecruiter says an entity that already accessed and saved the information can retain the copy it previously obtained. Fast application and recruiter-discovery convenience therefore comes with a real downstream privacy and retention boundary.

Marketplace scale does not settle the comparison

ZipRecruiter publishes changing headline job and Resume Database metrics. Those figures are provider-controlled and dynamic. They can describe platform scale, but they are not independently normalized proof that ZipRecruiter has better freelance-client opportunities, safer employers, more relevant matches, higher response rates or better outcomes than SolidGigs for your particular goal.

Customer reviews are context, not a forecast

ZipRecruiter has a large current Trustpilot sample with a strong overall score, but much visible recent feedback concerns employer-side customer service, job posting and billing rather than job-seeker outcomes. Some job-seeker complaints mention relevance or suspicious listings. SolidGigs has a much smaller mixed sample. Neither review set can predict your own opportunity quality, billing experience, client results, employer response or hiring outcome.

Which one fits your situation?

Pick SolidGigs when…

  • You are specifically pursuing freelance clients or projects rather than a conventional employment search.
  • You already know what service you sell and how to evaluate and pitch leads.
  • You want curation across multiple sources to reduce repetitive prospecting.
  • Saving that time can justify $35 monthly or $350 annually.

Start with ZipRecruiter when…

  • Your primary goal is employment, contract or remote-job discovery.
  • You want a broad free search baseline before paying for any discovery service.
  • AI matching, employer invitations and faster applications reduce useful search friction for you.
  • You are comfortable verifying listings, employers and unusual communications yourself.
  • You will confirm geography, sponsorship, work-authorization and employer-specific requirements on remote roles.
  • You understand employer/ATS data sharing and Resume Database copy-retention boundaries.

Use both only when both acquisition paths are active

If you genuinely pursue freelance clients and employment or contract roles at the same time, evaluate the services separately. Measure SolidGigs by relevant client/project leads and prospecting time saved. Measure ZipRecruiter by usable job matches, application quality, employer response and search time. Paying for SolidGigs should solve a distinct freelance-client bottleneck rather than duplicate a broad search you can already perform for free.

AlreadyChecked verdict: No universal winner. ZipRecruiter is the free broad baseline for employment, contract and remote-job searching with AI matching and application tools. SolidGigs fits freelancers paying to reduce cross-source client/project lead hunting. Choose by the work relationship you want and whether paid curation solves a measurable prospecting problem.
