SolidGigs vs We Work Remotely: pay for curated freelance leads or use a remote job board?
Start with SolidGigs when you are an independent freelancer and the problem is too much time spent finding relevant client leads. Start with We Work Remotely Basic when you want a remote-focused job-board workflow before taking on a paid subscription. Consider WWR Pro or TopAccess only when their extra application, alert, event or partner benefits justify a 12-month commitment. Neither is a universal winner.
AlreadyChecked Verdict
Start with WWR Basic for remote-job browsing; pay only when curation or paid WWR features solve a proven problem.
SolidGigs fits freelancers paying to reduce cross-source lead hunting. WWR Basic is the free remote-job-board starting tier. WWR Pro and TopAccess should be considered only with their documented 12-month commitments fully visible.
Best for you if… you separate freelance-client curation from remote-job-board access and treat WWR's displayed monthly prices as parts of annual commitments, not month-to-month freedom.
| Choice | Best for | Current cost | Biggest advantage | Important limitation |
|---|
| Best for freelance curation SolidGigs | Independent freelancers paying to reduce repetitive external client/project lead search. | $35/month or $350/year; 14-day free trial. | Focused lead curation with original-source pitching. | No clients, projects, income, refund or downstream payment protection is guaranteed. |
| Best free starting tier WWR Basic | People testing a remote-focused job-board workflow across Full-Time and Contract listings. | Free. | Tailored feed, saved jobs and documented free starting features before a paid commitment. | Account/public-listing access wording is not perfectly reconciled; remote roles can still be geographically restricted. |
| Paid application/alert tier WWR Pro | Users who clearly value unlimited applications, custom alerts and subscriber events. | $14.95/month display, first month $2.95, with a 12-month commitment. | Adds paid application, alert and event benefits. | The monthly display does not create a one-month obligation; cancellation does not erase remaining annual-term payments. |
| Specialist paid tier WWR TopAccess | Users who specifically value Pro plus partner-marketplace/resume benefits. | $29.95/month with a 12-month commitment; no free trial. | Adds partner-marketplace and resume-related benefits. | Partner acceptance, jobs, earnings and rewards are not guaranteed; paid term is non-refundable except where law requires otherwise. |

What you are actually comparing
SolidGigs
Current price: 14-day free trial, then $35/month or $350/year on the checked first-party pricing surface.
Model: paid freelance-lead discovery and curation. Matching gigs are added to a dashboard/email workflow, then the freelancer follows the original source to pitch.
We Work Remotely
Current tiers: Basic (Free), WWR Pro ($14.95/month, 12-month commitment, first month $2.95), and TopAccess ($29.95/month, 12-month commitment, no free trial).
Model: remote-job-board discovery with current Full-Time and Contract listings, account features and optional paid application/alert/partner benefits.
Pick SolidGigs when search time is the bottleneck
SolidGigs sells curation. Its current site advertises a 14-day trial, a $35 monthly option and a $350 annual option displayed as $29/month equivalent when billed annually. It says matching gigs are added to your dashboard and email, then “send a pitch” takes you to the original source. SolidGigs also says it does not take a percentage of your client fees.
The fit is strongest when you already know what freelance service you sell, can evaluate and pitch opportunities yourself, and would rather pay to reduce repetitive lead hunting. The fee is not payment for guaranteed clients, projects or income.
SolidGigs cancellation is not a guaranteed refund
SolidGigs markets cancel-anytime access. Its current terms separately say you must cancel before the 14-day trial ends to avoid the selected-plan charge and that refunds or prorated adjustments are not guaranteed for late cancellation or at another point. Treat the trial deadline, cancellation and refund eligibility as separate questions.
WWR Basic is free—but that is not the whole pricing story
We Work Remotely currently documents a Basic tier as free. Its FAQ says Basic includes a tailored feed, resume upload, saved jobs, company following, a free ATS resume review and LinkedIn verification. That makes Basic a reasonable starting point when you want to inspect a remote-focused job-board workflow before paying.
But calling the entire service simply “free” hides material paid tiers. WWR Pro adds unlimited applications, up to five custom job alerts and subscriber events. TopAccess adds partner-marketplace and resume-tool benefits plus conditional reward eligibility.
WWR Pro: $14.95/month display, 12-month commitment
WWR's FAQ currently displays Pro at $14.95/month with the first month $2.95. The same FAQ says Pro carries a 12-month commitment. WWR's current Terms describe the Job Seeker Pro Subscription as a non-refundable annual subscription fee that can be paid in full or in monthly payments.
That distinction matters. The $14.95 monthly presentation does not establish a one-month obligation, and the $2.95 first month is not proof of a free trial with no remaining commitment.
TopAccess: $29.95/month, 12-month commitment, no free trial
WWR currently displays TopAccess at $29.95/month, says it is a 12-month commitment, and states there is no free trial. The current Terms describe TopAccess as a non-refundable annual subscription paid in monthly installments over the subscription period.
TopAccess includes WWR Pro plus partner-marketplace and resume-related benefits. WWR explicitly states that acceptance into partner platforms is not guaranteed and that the subscription does not guarantee jobs or earnings. Any performance reward is conditional on eligibility and verification.
Canceling WWR does not erase the rest of the annual term
WWR says paid job-seeker subscriptions can be canceled from the dashboard, but access continues through the then-current annual term and monthly payments remain due through that term. Paid subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. Cancellation therefore does not automatically stop the remaining payment obligation or create a refund.
Full-Time and Contract both exist
Current WWR public listings include both Full-Time and Contract labels. That means WWR should not be reduced to “employee jobs only” or “freelance gigs only.” Read the individual listing and decide whether its work relationship matches what you are actually seeking.
Remote does not automatically mean worldwide
Current WWR listings include roles marked Anywhere in the World and other roles restricted to places such as the United States or Canada. Remote status does not remove employer, payroll, tax, time-zone or jurisdiction restrictions. Verify the listing's geography before investing time in an application.
One access discrepancy we are preserving
WWR's public homepage visibly exposes current job titles and listing metadata. Its current FAQ separately says users need an account to browse and apply and describes Basic as the free browsing tier. Those surfaces are not silently reconciled here. The checked evidence does not justify a stronger claim about exactly how much listing detail or application access is available without an account.
