SolidGigs vs Truelancer: curated external leads or a hosted proposal marketplace?

Choose SolidGigs when you want predictable fixed-cost external opportunity curation. Choose Truelancer when you want proposals, WorkStream, platform payment tools and dispute infrastructure.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

No universal winner: choose fixed external lead curation or a hosted proposal/payment marketplace.

SolidGigs fits freelancers who already manage pitching, contracts and payment and want predictable external opportunity discovery. Truelancer fits freelancers who want proposals, WorkStream, Safe Deposit, wallet/withdrawal and dispute infrastructure—and can tolerate account-dependent costs and conflicting public fee documentation.

Best for you if… you decide whether fixed-cost discovery or hosted proposal/payment infrastructure solves the more important problem in your workflow.

No universal winner—and Truelancer’s current fee pages conflict. The current Terms say a 3% to 10% Project Fee; the current Fee & Charges page says an 8% to 10% Service Fee depending on membership plan. We do not silently choose one range.

At a glance

SolidGigs

Cost: 14-day free trial, then $35/month or $350/year.

Model: curated external opportunities.

Truelancer

Model: hosted proposals, WorkStream, invoicing/Safe Deposit, wallet and withdrawals.

Proposal boundary: current Fee & Charges lists 20 free proposals per month for non-premium accounts.

Fee boundary: current public pages disagree: Terms 3%–10%; Fee & Charges 8%–10%.

The freelancer fee is not one settled public percentage

Truelancer’s current Terms state a Project Fee of 3% to 10% based on freelancer membership type. Its current Fee & Charges page instead states a Service Fee of 8% to 10% on billed work depending on membership plan. Until Truelancer reconciles those pages or a controlling account surface proves the exact rate, we treat the applicable fee as membership/account/transaction dependent.

Twenty free proposals is still a limit

The current Fee & Charges page lists 20 free proposals per month for non-premium freelancers. It also sells extra proposal credits after that allotment. That is not unlimited free bidding, and proposals do not guarantee replies, awards or earnings.

Other charges can matter too

The legal pages separately describe payment-processing charges, withdrawal/transfer fees, optional Feature Fees, extra proposal credits and dispute-related charges. Comparing SolidGigs $35 only with one marketplace percentage would therefore miss part of Truelancer’s possible cost structure.

Withdrawal costs depend on method

Current Fee & Charges lists INR bank transfer in India with no Truelancer charge, PayPal at the PayPal fee, Payoneer bank transfer with a fee currently shown as $3, Payoneer account with no charge, and USD bank transfer at $25. Currency-conversion or financial-institution charges can also apply. These are not universal worldwide payout guarantees.

Safe Deposit is conditional protection

Truelancer’s Terms define Safe Deposit payment infrastructure, but freelancer payment remains conditioned on employer acceptance or applicable dispute resolution. The refund policy also applies defined refund conditions to funds still held in Safe Deposit. Once Safe Deposit funds are released, the buyer accepts that those released funds are non-refundable under that rule.

Dispute resolution has a fee and no guaranteed winner

Current Terms state a Dispute Resolution Service Fee of INR 500 or 5% of the applicable project payment, whichever is greater. The Terms describe a 10-business-day good-faith mediation period. That is not a guarantee that the dispute is finally resolved in 10 days, that the freelancer wins, or that all held funds go to one side.

Off-platform payment changes the protection boundary

Current Terms require users to notify Truelancer if the other party solicits payment outside the Website and explicitly refer to circumvention of Truelancer Billing and Payment Services. Do not assume an off-platform payment preserves the platform’s Safe Deposit or dispute protections.

Membership renews—and older pricing is not treated as current

The current Membership Policy says memberships auto-renew, paid membership fees are not refunded, and Truelancer can change program fees and proposal allowances with posted notice. A public 2024 pricing-update notice exists, but we do not promote its Basic/Pro/Plus prices as definitive September 2026 pricing without a current controlling membership surface.

Which fits you?

I want fixed-cost external discovery

SolidGigs fits better when you already handle your own pitching, contracts and payments.

I want a hosted proposal/payment workflow

Truelancer fits better when WorkStream, Safe Deposit, wallet withdrawals and dispute infrastructure are worth the marketplace rules and variable costs.

I need one known flat marketplace fee

Truelancer’s current public documentation is a weak fit for that requirement because its Terms and Fee & Charges page currently state different ranges.

I need guaranteed payment merely because funds were deposited

Do not assume that. Safe Deposit remains subject to acceptance, refund and dispute conditions.
