Best SolidGigs alternatives: choose by the problem you actually need solved.

SolidGigs is a paid lead-discovery service: $35/month or $350/year with a 14-day free trial. That can make sense when your biggest problem is the time spent searching for freelance leads. It makes less sense when you actually need a full marketplace, a free operating platform, screened remote employment, or simply a way to avoid another subscription.

Quick verdict: choose Contra for a free freelance workspace, Upwork for end-to-end marketplace infrastructure, FlexJobs for screened remote and flexible jobs, and direct outreach/referrals when you want no platform subscription at all. Keep SolidGigs on the list when lead discovery itself is the bottleneck.

FlexJobs

1. Contra — best free alternative for a broader freelance workflow

Contra solves a different problem than SolidGigs. SolidGigs is primarily about finding and filtering leads. Contra combines work discovery with a freelancer profile, proposals, contracts, invoices and payments.

Contra's current pricing page lists a free freelancer plan and Pro at $29/month or $199/year. Contra also states that freelancers can receive commission-free payments, while separate client-side or payment-processing fees can still apply.

Choose Contra instead of SolidGigs when: you still need the operating infrastructure of a freelance platform, want a free starting point, or want clients to discover your profile in addition to searching opportunities yourself.

SolidGigs can still fit better when: you already have your contracts, invoicing and portfolio workflow handled and specifically want someone else doing more of the lead-search work.

2. Upwork — best alternative for marketplace infrastructure and payment protection

Upwork keeps far more of the transaction inside its platform. You search jobs, submit proposals, accept contracts and receive payments within the marketplace. Upwork says freelancer service fees currently range from 0% to 15% per contract and purchased Connects cost $0.15 each.

Those costs buy access to a different kind of system. Upwork includes qualifying payment-protection processes, dispute infrastructure and a marketplace reputation layer that SolidGigs does not provide.

Choose Upwork instead of SolidGigs when: you want the marketplace to handle more of the transaction and you value contracts, platform reputation and payment-protection features.

SolidGigs can still fit better when: you dislike repeatedly browsing a marketplace and your main objective is to discover opportunities that you then pursue outside the lead service.

3. FlexJobs — best alternative when the real goal is screened remote employment

FlexJobs is closer to a screened remote-job database than a freelance lead service. Its current pricing page says every job is screened and verified, and covers remote, hybrid, part-time and flexible work across more than 50 career categories.

The current entry option is $2.95 for 14 days, then $23.95 billed every four weeks unless cancelled. Longer plans are also available.

Choose FlexJobs instead of SolidGigs when: your actual goal is a legitimate remote or flexible job and avoiding scams/junk listings matters more than finding freelance client leads.

SolidGigs can still fit better when: you already operate as an independent freelancer and are specifically trying to feed your client-acquisition pipeline.

Commercial note: This page does not send readers directly to FlexJobs because AlreadyChecked does not currently have a confirmed production affiliate destination for that program in this publishing path.

4. Direct outreach and referrals — best no-subscription alternative

The cheapest alternative to every paid lead service is to own the prospecting process yourself. Build a narrow list of businesses that visibly need what you sell, ask successful clients for introductions, and create niche pages or case studies that help prospects discover you.

The tradeoff is obvious: there is no subscription fee, but the research and prospecting time returns to you. That is exactly the time SolidGigs is trying to reduce.

Choose direct outreach instead of SolidGigs when: you have a narrow target market, can build qualified prospect lists efficiently, or cannot yet justify another recurring expense.

SolidGigs can still fit better when: your billable time is valuable enough that outsourcing part of lead discovery is worth more than the monthly fee.

When SolidGigs is still the better fit

If that describes you, the question is less “what can replace SolidGigs?” and more “does SolidGigs save enough time to justify $35/month?”
