Semrush vs AIOSEO: which SEO tool is better?

Neither is a universal winner. Semrush is the stronger first choice for broader cloud SEO research, competitor intelligence, daily rank monitoring, Site Audit and AI-search visibility. AIOSEO is the stronger first choice for WordPress-native SEO implementation, schema, sitemaps, content analysis and plan-specific site licensing. They are not one-for-one substitutes, and many WordPress teams may use both.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

Choose Semrush for broader cloud research and monitoring; choose AIOSEO for WordPress-native implementation—or use both when the workflow needs both layers.

Semrush solves wider research, tracking and audit work. AIOSEO solves implementation work inside WordPress. Its lower annual license pricing reflects a different product role, and promotional first-year prices must be separated from full-price renewals.

Best for you if… you compare product role, licensed-site count, AI-credit capacity and full renewal price rather than selecting from a temporary promotional headline.

Current pricing: cloud platform versus annual WordPress licenses

OptionChecked pricingCurrent operating scope
Semrush SEO$139/month or $117.33/month equivalent when billed annually5 monitored websites; 500 keywords tracked daily; broader cloud SEO/search workflow
AIOSEO Basic$99/year regular price1 WordPress site; 10,000 credits on Basic
AIOSEO Plus$199/year regular priceUp to 3 WordPress sites; 25,000 on Plus
AIOSEO Pro$399/year regular priceUp to 10 WordPress sites; 50,000 on Pro
AIOSEO Elite$599/year regular priceUp to 100 WordPress sites

AIOSEO currently uses special first-year promotional pricing, and first-party pricing renderings can vary by locale and sale state. AIOSEO explicitly says those discounts are introductory and renewals are at full price. AlreadyChecked therefore uses the regular annual prices as the stable renewal boundary and tells buyers to verify the live first-year checkout price.

AIOSEO is a WordPress implementation layer

AIOSEO is a WordPress SEO plugin centered on site-level implementation such as schema, sitemaps, content analysis, redirects and other WordPress-native controls. Semrush is a broader cloud SEO/search research and monitoring platform. A WordPress team may use AIOSEO to implement changes discovered through Semrush rather than treating the tools as direct substitutes.

Site licenses, tracked keywords and AI credits are different units

AIOSEO's plans activate on 1, 3, 10 or 100 sites. Semrush's current SEO plan monitors 5 websites and tracks 500 keywords daily. Current AIOSEO pricing also exposes generative-AI allowances including 10,000 credits on Basic, 25,000 on Plus and 50,000 on Pro.

Current AIOSEO first-party AI-credit cadence conflict

A current AIOSEO credit-management document says subscription credits renew each year on the subscription renewal date, while another current AIOSEO AI Assistant page describes paid-plan credits as monthly limits that renew each month. AlreadyChecked preserves that conflict rather than choosing one cadence as universally current. Separately purchased PAYG credits remain a distinct balance and expire after one year. AI credits are not tracked-keyword units or product-quality scores.

The verified evaluation path is the free plugin—not a Pro free trial

AIOSEO offers a free WordPress plugin. Current first-party contact material says there is no free trial or demo of All in One SEO Pro. The paid subscription instead carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. AlreadyChecked does not relabel a refund window as a free trial.

What happens when AIOSEO is canceled or expires?

Current AIOSEO documentation says existing SEO data and settings remain in the WordPress database after cancellation or expiry. Premium-feature access, plugin updates and premium support are no longer available without an active subscription. That is different from saying existing SEO settings are erased.

Refunds apply to the initial purchase—not renewals

AIOSEO's current refund guidance provides a 14-day refund window for the initial paid purchase and says refunds are not issued outside that period or on renewals. Applicable statutory consumer rights are separate from the ordinary commercial policy.

Public affiliate program does not equal AlreadyChecked approval

AIOSEO currently advertises a 20% commission and manually reviews affiliate applications. Its terms require a referred account to remain active for at least 37 days; refunded or charged-back transactions are not commissionable. The checked first-party material does not establish a cookie duration AlreadyChecked can safely publish. Public availability does not prove project approval or tracking custody.

Which route fits your actual workflow?

Choose Semrush when…

Broad keyword/competitor research, daily rank monitoring, Site Audit and AI-search visibility across the wider web are central.

Choose AIOSEO when…

WordPress-native schema, sitemaps, content analysis and site-level SEO implementation are the core job.

Use both when…

A WordPress workflow needs Semrush's broader research/monitoring plus AIOSEO's implementation controls.

Important limitations

Site-license counts, tracked keywords, AI credits and feature counts are operating constraints—not proof that one product has universally better SEO data or outcomes. Promotional pricing is not a permanent renewal price, the money-back guarantee is not a free trial, and current first-party AI-credit renewal wording is internally inconsistent.
