SolidGigs vs Outsized: broad freelance leads or an independent-talent project network?

Choose SolidGigs when your bottleneck is broader external freelance opportunity discovery and you prefer downstream independence. Choose Outsized when you are an independent consultant or contractor who wants a curated project network with Statement-of-Work contracting and Outsized-administered invoicing/payment flow.

AlreadyChecked Verdict

No universal winner: choose broad independent lead discovery or a curated independent-talent network with SOW administration.

SolidGigs fits freelancers who want broad external opportunities and downstream independence. Outsized fits independent consultants and contractors who value curated project access, Statement-of-Work contracting and administered invoicing/payment flow enough to accept client-specific terms and client-funded payout timing.

Best for you if… you want more engagement infrastructure and can tolerate payment dependence on client funds, rather than treating Outsized's no-talent-fee model as a guaranteed immediate-payment model.

Current models

SolidGigs

Cost: 14-day free trial, then $35/month or $350/year.

Model: broader external freelance lead discovery; pitching, contracts and payment typically happen downstream.

Outsized

Model: independent-talent project network with matched consulting/contract opportunities, SOW contracting and administered invoicing/payment flow.

Provider performance figures are context—not individual guarantees

Current Outsized material says most roles run 1–12 months. Its 2026 report publishes provider aggregate figures including a 2.3 days average shortlist, 8.5 months average contract length and 57% extension rate across the reported engagements.

Those statistics do not guarantee that an individual profile will be admitted, matched, shortlisted, hired, retained for a particular duration, extended or paid a particular amount.

Outsized says talent pays no platform fee—but the client pays an uplift

Current Outsized talent/pricing guidance says there are no fees for talent to register, maintain a profile or apply and says independents keep all of your day rate under Outsized's own fee model.

Outsized separately says it adds a percentage uplift charged to the client. The reviewed public material does not establish one universal uplift percentage. We therefore keep the independent's agreed rate, the Outsized client uplift, total client cost and possible bank/FX/tax or other external costs separate.

Rates vary by project

Current Outsized guidance says compensation can depend on client budget, experience level, skill demand and geography, particularly where on-site work is involved. Outsized pricing guidance also says the rate for a requirement is between the client and independent.

There is therefore no verified universal Outsized day rate, minimum project value or earnings level in the current public material reviewed.

An opportunity is not a signed Statement of Work

Current talent FAQ says the project contract / Statement of Work defines the scope or role, deliverables, timelines, rate and duration and is between Outsized and the independent. Outsized maintains a separate master agreement with the client.

That makes Outsized more than a passive job board once an engagement is onboarded, but it also means an opportunity or match should not be treated as a signed SOW.

15 to 30 days is only a rule of thumb

Outsized says payment terms are client-specific and transparent before an assignment. Its current FAQ gives 15 to 30 days after raising an invoice as a general rule of thumb.

That wording is not a universal contractual promise that every invoice will be paid within that window.

The 5-working-day clock starts after client funds arrive

The stronger payment boundary is Outsized's statement that it pays talent within 5 working days after receipt of funds from the client.

Outsized also says it does not currently upfront payment. That means the public documentation does not support a promise that Outsized pays the independent before Outsized has received the client's funds. Invoice submission, client payment to Outsized, Outsized processing and final bank receipt are separate events.

The reviewed public material also does not establish one universal payment rail, currency, FX fee, transaction fee, dispute result or final bank-arrival time.

Independent talent are not described as salaried employees

Current talent FAQ says independents are not salaried employees and therefore do not receive salary slips. Invoices can serve as evidence of prior income, and Outsized says it can confirm rates on request.

That should not be converted into ordinary salaried-employment language or an income guarantee.

Outsized is not universally remote

Current FAQ says many, if not most, Outsized opportunities are at least partly on-site with the client. Geography can also affect compensation and fit.

Notice is usually 30 days—not always

Current FAQ says either party can terminate the contract but the freelancer must serve the notice period, usually 30 days. That is provider general guidance; the actual SOW or project terms can control.

Platform Terms and SOW obligations are separate

Current Talent Terms require account registration, age 18+ and capacity to form binding contracts and apply England and Wales governing law/jurisdiction to the platform Terms. Those terms remain distinct from project-specific SOW obligations.
