SolidGigs fits freelancers who want broader external opportunities and downstream independence. GrowthMentor fits accepted growth/startup/product professionals who want hosted 1:1 mentoring and can accept selective admission, review-gated paid rates, platform session handling and current first-party commission conflicts.
| Choice | Best for | Current cost | Biggest advantage | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Broad discovery SolidGigs | Freelancers who want external opportunities across broader categories and independent downstream control. | $35/month or $350/year after a 14-day free trial. | Predictable fixed-cost discovery across multiple sources. | No leads, clients, projects or earnings are guaranteed. |
| Growth mentoring GrowthMentor | Accepted growth, startup and product professionals who want hosted 1:1 mentoring. | Current first-party documentation is internally inconsistent: recent FAQs say mentors keep their full rate/no commission, while June 28, 2026 Terms state a current 15% commission on paid sessions. | Hosted mentoring marketplace with platform session handling and Stripe payouts. | Admission is selective; paid rates are review-gated; commission is not settled across current first-party sources; payouts depend on session completion/confirmation and Stripe timing. |

Documentation conflict: GrowthMentor's current first-party pages do not agree on one exact mentor acceptance rate, and they also conflict on paid-session commission. We show those conflicts instead of picking the more attractive number.
Trust boundary: This is a manually researched editorial comparison. It is not an A✓/CHECKED automated verification record and carries no A✓/CHECKED approval badge. This support page contains no direct merchant affiliate destination.

Model: selective hosted mentoring marketplace for growth, startup and product professionals.
Give-first: current FAQs say mentors begin free before review-based paid-rate unlocks.
GrowthMentor clearly presents mentor admission as selective, but its current first-party surfaces use different figures: around 3%, fewer than 5%, under 5% and around 5%.
The defensible conclusion is selective low-single-digit acceptance. We do not publish one exact percentage as settled fact, and we do not treat provider-reported selectivity as independent proof of mentor quality or safety.
Recent GrowthMentor FAQs say paid mentors keep their full rate and that GrowthMentor takes no commission on paid mentor sessions.
However, GrowthMentor's Terms of Service, last updated June 28, 2026, state that GrowthMentor collects paid-session payments, retains a current 15% commission, and remits the remainder through Stripe.
Those first-party statements conflict. We therefore do not claim a settled 0% or 15% mentor commission and do not calculate guaranteed mentor take-home from either version.
Current FAQs describe a give-first model: mentors begin free, 3 reviews unlock the option to set a paid rate, and 10+ reviews are required to charge above $100/hr. GrowthMentor also says around 80% of mentors are free at a given time.
Those thresholds do not guarantee reviews, bookings, session volume or earnings.
For paid sessions, current help says the mentee payment is captured or held at booking and mentor earnings are released after the session is completed or confirmed. Cancellation, decline, no-show, dispute and refund scenarios are not unconditional payout cases.
GrowthMentor uses Stripe for mentor payouts. Current guidance says funds typically arrive within 2–7 business days depending on country, which is not a universal bank-receipt guarantee.
Current GrowthMentor membership pricing is $255 per quarter ($85/month equivalent) or $600 per year ($50/month equivalent). Current pages say there is no free trial and a 14-day money-back guarantee.
Those are client-side membership terms. They are not mentor earnings, not a guaranteed mentor-side fee, and not evidence that every included call produces paid-session income.
GrowthMentor says consulting, fractional or freelance work can grow out of mentor relationships. Its current guidance says the resulting working relationship can be directly between the two of you and GrowthMentor is not involved in that downstream contract.
That makes GrowthMentor different from a general freelance marketplace that universally administers every resulting contract and payment.
You want broader external opportunity discovery across freelance categories and prefer to own the downstream pitch, contract and payment process.
You want hosted 1:1 growth/startup/product mentoring, can pass selective admission, and accept review-gated paid rates, platform session handling and unresolved public documentation conflicts around commission and exact selectivity.
Commercial boundary: GrowthMentor has a public referral program, but a public program is not project-controlled AlreadyChecked approval, tracking or payout custody. GrowthMentor production destination remains null, and affiliate/referral economics were excluded from this ranking.
AlreadyChecked verdict: No universal winner. SolidGigs fits fixed-cost external lead discovery and downstream independence; GrowthMentor fits accepted growth/startup/product professionals who want hosted mentoring and review-gated paid sessions while accepting its current documentation conflicts and payment rules.
