SolidGigs vs Braintrust: external lead discovery or a certified talent network?
Choose SolidGigs when you already know how to pitch and manage clients and your bottleneck is finding more external opportunities. Choose Braintrust when certification, AI matching, hosted role discovery and platform invoicing solve a bigger problem—and you accept ID/skills verification, client-payment timing and network relationship rules.
AlreadyChecked Verdict
No universal winner: choose external lead discovery or a certified talent network.
SolidGigs fits freelancers who already run their own sales and client workflow but want less lead hunting. Braintrust fits professionals who value certification, AI matching, hosted role discovery and platform invoicing and accept its verification, payment-timing and relationship rules.
Best for you if… you decide first whether you want independent external opportunity discovery or a certified network that keeps more matching and invoicing workflow inside the platform.
| Choice | Best for | Current cost | Biggest advantage | Important limitation |
|---|
| External discovery SolidGigs | Freelancers who can pitch, contract and manage clients independently but want less opportunity hunting. | $35/month or $350/year after a 14-day free trial. | Fixed-cost external lead discovery without moving the downstream client relationship into one marketplace. | Contracts, payment and disputes follow the original source or client rather than one SolidGigs-wide transaction system. |
| Certified network Braintrust | Professionals who want certification, AI matching, hosted roles and platform invoicing. | Braintrust currently markets $0 platform fees for Talent; client-side/network pricing is separate. | Certification, matching, hosted role discovery and invoicing in one network workflow. | Certification does not guarantee work; payment follows client payment, and the current Terms include a 12-month relationship restriction for Braintrust-discovered Clients unless required notice/consent is obtained. |

There is no honest universal winner. SolidGigs charges for lead discovery and sends you outside its ecosystem. Braintrust currently charges Talent $0 in platform fees but puts more of the acquisition and invoicing workflow inside a certified network.

SolidGigs vs Braintrust at a glance
SolidGigs
Best for: freelancers with their own sales and payment workflow who want less lead hunting.
Current cost: 14-day free trial, then $35/month or $350/year.
Model: external lead curation; SolidGigs says it takes no percentage of freelancer earnings.
Braintrust
Best for: professionals who want certification, AI matching, a hosted role network and platform invoicing.
Current Talent fee: Braintrust markets $0 platform fees for Talent.
Current certification: profile + AI Skills Interview + ID verification + Certified Braintrust Talent badge.
Braintrust’s current certification is not the old 2023 screening flow
Braintrust’s current 2026 certification page describes four steps: complete a profile, take a domain-specific AI Skills Interview, verify identity with government-issued ID, then receive the Certified Braintrust Talent badge.
The provider currently says the AI interview takes about 15–30 minutes and the whole certification process takes less than 2 hours total spread across your own schedule. Those are provider process estimates—not guaranteed turnaround or hiring outcomes.
Older Braintrust support pages describe an “Approved Talent” process using an older one-way-video workflow. We do not use those legacy pages to override the current certification model.
What certification does—and does not—mean
Current Braintrust materials describe certification as identity verification plus skills validation and say certified profiles can receive enhanced matching/search treatment.
Certification does not prove every employer or role is safe, guarantee a useful match, guarantee a job, promise a particular rate, or guarantee continuous work. Optional background-check availability is a separate feature.
Braintrust currently says Talent pays $0 platform fees
Braintrust’s current talent and pricing pages repeatedly say $0 platform fees for Talent and that Talent keeps 100% of earnings.
That does not mean Braintrust has no economics. Client-side/network pricing is separate and currently described as flexible. The accurate comparison is therefore not “$35 versus free for the same service.”
SolidGigs charges a fixed acquisition subscription. Braintrust monetizes a hosted talent/hiring network on the other side of the transaction.
Braintrust keeps more of the job workflow inside the network
Current Braintrust pages let users browse roles and describe AI-powered matching for certified Talent. The provider currently advertises contract and full-time roles and calls the experience remote-first.
Remote-first is not remote-only. Role availability, location eligibility, matching quality and hiring outcomes vary; none are guaranteed for every member.
Your Braintrust Project contract is still directly with the Client
Braintrust’s current Terms say that when a Client and Freelancer enter a Project, the contractual relationship is directly between the Client and Freelancer. Talent Node is not a party to the Project.
Braintrust Talent Terms also say Talent controls which Projects or Bids to accept and the price charged, subject to the agreed Project and platform rules.
This is more platform infrastructure than SolidGigs provides, but it should not be misrepresented as Braintrust becoming your employer or guaranteeing every contract.
Braintrust does not guarantee salary or minimum payment
Braintrust Talent Terms expressly say Talent Node does not guarantee a regular salary or any minimum or regular payment.
The current invoicing guide, updated September 2025, says Talent receives payment when the client pays the invoice. Once payment is processing, the transfer can take from hours to days depending on bank, country, account type and currency.
That newer guidance is why we do not present older support references to Net-30 as a universal current payout guarantee.
There is also a material client-relationship restriction
Braintrust’s current Terms say Talent generally may not enter a separate employment or consulting relationship with a Client discovered or referred through Braintrust during the service period and for 12 months after Freelancer Services are completed unless the required written notice and prior consent are obtained.
If owning the client relationship outside a platform is central to your freelance model, compare that rule carefully with SolidGigs, which routes you to original external sources and does not impose one universal downstream client contract itself.
Dispute support is not guaranteed payment
Braintrust’s Terms say user disputes are fundamentally between the users, subject to the network’s dispute process, while current Network Standards describe mediation tools.
That is a meaningful platform process, but it is not the same as a universal payment guarantee or a promise that every dispute will be resolved in the freelancer’s favor.
Which one fits you?
I already run my own client contracts and payments
SolidGigs fits better when finding external opportunities—not transaction infrastructure—is the bottleneck.
I want certification, matching and invoicing in one network
Braintrust fits better if the current AI-interview/ID-verification flow and network rules work for you.
I want no talent percentage/platform fee
Both have a favorable talent-side percentage story: SolidGigs says no percentage of earnings; Braintrust says $0 Talent platform fees. SolidGigs still charges its fixed subscription, so workflow—not a single fee number—decides the fit.
I need payment guaranteed on a fixed date
Neither comparison supports that promise. Braintrust currently says payment follows client payment; SolidGigs leaves downstream payment terms to the original source/client.
I want unrestricted ownership of every client relationship
Read Braintrust’s relationship rule carefully. Its current Terms restrict separate relationships with Braintrust-discovered Clients for a defined period without required notice/consent.
A practical two-channel test
- Keep the same service positioning so you are comparing acquisition channels rather than different offers.
- Track Braintrust: certification effort, matches, applications, interviews, wins, invoice timing, client-payment delay and effective rate.
- Track SolidGigs: qualified leads, prospecting time saved, pitches, replies, wins, subscription cost and downstream payment costs.
- Compare net value. Include verification effort, relationship flexibility, payment timing and actual conversion—not just headline fees.
What we refused to assume
- We did not treat SolidGigs curation as a universal safety or lead-quality guarantee.
- We did not treat Braintrust certification as guaranteed hiring, safety, earnings or employer quality.
- We did not claim every Braintrust role is remote or globally available.
- We did not call Braintrust “free everywhere”; the verified current claim is $0 platform fees for Talent.
- We did not treat hosted invoicing as guaranteed payment.
- We did not call Talent Node the contractual party to every Client/Freelancer Project.
- We did not present old 2023 Approved Talent screening documentation as the current certification process.
- We did not hide the 12-month relationship restriction for Braintrust-discovered Clients.
- We did not use recent Reddit anecdotes as representative network outcomes.
- We did not invent a Braintrust affiliate/referral destination.
- We did not use SolidGigs affiliate economics to choose the verdict.
Commercial boundary
No direct merchant affiliate handoff is approved on this comparison. When SolidGigs is the fit described above, readers may continue internally to our governed SolidGigs review. Braintrust has public referral programs, but AlreadyChecked has no approved Braintrust production destination. Affiliate/referral economics did not influence the ranking.
